Eve's Bayou

I thought when I first saw this that there would have been a lot of talk about this movie at Oscar time in 1997. But this was largely ignored by the academy. This movie will be making an appearance in the Raider's Forgotten Films highlights.

The first line is intriguing, "I was 10 the summer I killed my father." (No she doesn't really - she just thinks she does). This was a very interesting movie. I do not recommend this for all audiences - DO NOT LET CHILDREN SEE THIS! The main subject of the movie is controversial - this film is not intended for everyone.

All of the action takes place during 1 summer in the early 1960s. Eve is 10 years old and she and her family are not having the best summer vacation. Needless to say, the movie pretty much finishes with the father's death. I don't want to give very much away, or I'll spoil the movie for everybody else.

I do strongly recommend this as a rental, but be prepared. This is not a light, fluffy film where everyone lives happily ever after at the end. This deals with adult subject matter.
