This is only an
ok movie. The movie had enough tie-ins that it was clearly expected
to be a large summer release, but it's only so-so as an action
movie. This might be ok to rent on video, but it really isn't
worth paying $7.00 to see in a theatre. Luckily, I didn't pay
that much either. What can you say about a movie where the
premise is supposed to be that Val Kilmer is such a master of
disguises that everyone he thinks he is supposed to be fooling
knows it's him automatically except his leading lady. If you
can catch the Volvo ads about their "cool" new red
sportscar (a Volvo?!?), you'll see much of the exciting action
scenes that rev up the high school kids. Otherwise, if you really
feel you need to pay the higher price so you can see this 1 1/2hr
Nokia Cell Phone ad, go ahead. This doesn't have the sequel
potential that Kilmer was looking for and it certainly will not
be the type of movie that Academy Awards voters will care to
bestow Oscars on for Shue as best actress, or special effects
or anything else.
